My name is Dennis Drake.
When I arrived at Vibra Rehabilitation Hospital of Lake Travis I had just had a very complicated surgery to repair a spinal cord injury that had caused me to have no feeling in my feet and legs. I also was recovering from a broken ankle that had happened several weeks earlier. I couldn’t walk, even with a walker. I had to transfer from my bed to the commode or to my wheelchair using a board to slide on, and my pain level was at a constant 8 or 9.
My nurses, Anne and Jean were in contact with Dr. Arizmendez to work on the pain level and we got it to a constant 2 or 3. My occupational therapists, Michelle, Shaina, and Larry all worked with me to make sure I was comfortable with being able to handle everyday tasks at home. My physical therapists, Laura, Inga, and Tarina all worked on getting me back on my feet and walking again. As I get ready to go home, the feeling in my legs and feet are returning and I have walked 50 feet with a walker. I can transfer from the bed to the wheelchair with a walker. I can even walk to the toilet and the shower also with the walker.
Every person on Vibra’s staff have been encouraging and have celebrated all my accomplishments with me.Posted By
