Highlands offers comprehensive arthritis rehabilitation for people whose functional abilities have been affected by arthritis (osteoarthritis, psoriatic, rheumatoid), hip fractures, joint replacement, orthopedic conditions, osteoporosis, spine disfiguration as well as balance, rheumatologic or musculoskeletal disorders. Medical services are provided through all levels of care including inpatient and outpatient therapy, and include exercise and support programs as well.
Highlands Regional Rehabilitation Hospital is a leader in arthritis care and advocacy. In fact, we have partnered with the Arthritis Foundation to sponsor two wellness programs:
- The Arthritis Foundation YMCA Aquatic Program (AFAYP) is an aquatic based group program conducted in a warm water pool.
- The People with Arthritis Can Exercise Program (PACE) is a land based group program offered at both basic and advanced levels.
Both programs include games, range of motion, muscle strengthening and/or endurance exercises, body mechanics and relaxation techniques. Our therapists will be happy to help you decide which program is right for you.
