Mary B.

Mary owes a lot of gratitude to her great granddaughter Brooklynn. As Mary drove to herself to her doctor’s office with Brooklynn in the car, she began to have a respiratory event that caused her to become unconscious in the parking lot. 4 year old Brooklynn unbuckled herself from her car seat and went into the doctor’s office for help. Mary was rushed to the hospital by ambulance with Brooklynn along for the ride.

Mary spent 7 days in the hospital recovering from her respiratory failure. She was then admitted to Gateway Rehab Hospital, where she worked very hard during her 6 day stay.

Mary was discharged home with home health and oxygen. She was taught how to manage her new oxygen use at home and is ready to go back to caring for Brooklynn. Mary says that the doctors, nurses, therapist, and case managers at Gateway were so kind and encouraging.

She feels like they are now part of her family and has even invited several of them to her family reunion this summer.
