Ms. Johnson is a pleasant 57 yr old female who has been admitted to Vibra LTAC after having undergone right foot heel ulcer debridement administration of IV antibiotics. She developed right heel ulcer 3 months ago that progressively got worst. Upon admission to the TCU, her right foot osteomyelitis was being treated with wound care and toe touch weight bearing.
Although her weight bearing status was a barrier to her mobility, she continued to participate fully with skilled PT and OT services, as well as wound care and IV antibiotics. Due to her compliance and our interdisciplinary approach, Ms. Johnson was able to advance to full weight bearing and return to walking house hold distances with her walker and the use of a custom knee orthotic to provide support and pain management. She was able to return to her apartment with her previous assistance and home health services.
Ms. Johnson stated, “ As the team worked with me, things got easy. I can dress myself, bathe, and I can even walk with a walker. These things were hard to do. Everyday I was met with a smile and a ‘hello, how are you doing?’ That made me ready to take on the task. I will miss every last one of them. They will always have a place in my heart.”Posted By
