Luis Balbuena suffered for years with swelling and stiffness in his left knee. The knee made prevented Luis from completing daily tasks and impacted his ability to sleep at night. He even required a walker to walk more than 25 yards. After conservative treatments failed to provide relief, Luis underwent a total knee replacement.
After surgery, Luis was eager to start aggressive physical and occupational therapy. But when he arrived at Highlands Rehabilitation Hospital, Luis still had a lot of pain and could not walk.
Excellent pain management set Luis up for the following two weeks of intense therapy. That therapy generated great progress for Luis. He can now walk 700 feet with minimal assistance from a front-wheeled walker.
"Everyone here is so professional," Luis said of the staff at Highlands. "I've been here before for my other knee, and I always recommend Highlands. I am very appreciative of the way I’ve been treated."
Upon completion of his outpatient stay, Luis will begin outpatient therapy at Highlands. Though he had a great stay, Luis is looking forward to returning home. "I'm ready to get back home to my wife," he stated with a smile.Posted By
