Tom Miskey knew he faced an uphill battle, having been through several health issues. As a result of acute respiratory failure, Tom required a ventilator to breathe. He recently had surgery to address a thoracoabdominal aneurysm and suffered an embolic stroke. An embolic stroke occurs when a blood clot travels to the brain after forming elsewhere in the body.
This brought Tom to Vibra Hospital of Northern California. When he arrived at Vibra, Tom was dependent for all mobility and care. But Tom was determined to regain his independence.
With his family by his side, Tom worked hard day-after-day with therapy. He weaned off the ventilator and qualified to discharge to a lower level-of-care.
Tom transferred to Enloe Acute Rehabilitation Hospital, where he continued to progress. He has regained some of his independence and visits us on occasion.Posted By
