Things hadn't been easy for Dakota Wallen -- and then the car accident happened. The serious crash left Dakota in poor health. He suffered a traumatic brain injury, multiple fractures, and respiratory failure. Dakota faced a long road to recovery.
That brought Dakota to Vibra Hospital of Southeastern Michigan - Taylor Campus. Dakota arrived at Vibra requiring a ventilator to breathe and a feeding tube for nutrition. With so much going on, it was difficult for Dakota to participate much in therapy. But the staff at Vibra was up to the challenge.
With all departments working together, Dakota began to make progress. As speech therapy addressed his swallowing issues, dietary worked to increase his caloric intake. This increased strength, in tandem with weaning from the ventilator, helped Dakota participate more actively in therapy sessions. Building on each improvement, Dakota's progress accelerated.
Soon, Dakota was ready to discharge home, able to care for himself and on a regular diet. His supportive care team were all there to confidently send him off and wish him well.Posted By
