James Purdue came to Vibra Hospital of Southeastern Michigan - Taylor Campus in poor health. Suffering from acute respiratory failure, James required a ventilator to help him breathe. Unable to have any food by mouth, he also required a feeding tube for his nutrition. This all impacted his ability to recover.
Initially, James required extended and frequent rest breaks to complete any mobility or self care activities. In addition to the breathing impairments, James was affected by body fatigue and anxiety.
But he continued to put in the effort to heal. And heal he did.
James shed the ventilator and the feeding tube, returning to a regular diet. He no longer required assistance getting out of bed, and could walk 300 feet on his own. James discharged home able to perform self care tasks independently.Posted By
