"Things looked pretty dire for me back in December, when I suddenly had severe back pain that took away my ability to walk. I was diagnosed with osteomyelitis of my lower back which I later found out was caused by an infection on the outside of my spine. Thankfully, it didn’t require any surgery so I was transferred to Vibra Hospital of Amarillo for about three weeks with IV antibiotics.
I started slowly recovering with the help of the therapists and nurses. But then I was ready for more rehab, so they admitted me to Vibra Rehabilitation Hospital of Amarillo. I can’t say enough good things about everyone who works there. These people are top notch, good, hard-working people who wanted to see me improve and walk again. They helped me reach new heights every day with the main goal of discharging independently back to my home.
All the therapists knew I wanted to regain my strength, and they challenged me. I have the drive and desire to do this. There are lots of reasons that motivated me, especially my six antique cars and being able to go out target shooting again. After just a week with the Vibra rehab team, I was back up walking with minor assistance and ready to head home to Perryton. I’m most looking forward to getting back into the routine of being around my daughter, grandson, and so many friends.
There are too many people to thank between the two Vibra hospitals. All I can say is, if I was going to be anywhere to go through what I did, it would Vibra. I’m a lucky guy."
