Recovering from triple bypass heart surgery is more than enough for a person. Unfortunately for Walter Lewis, he contracted an infection after surgery. He transferred to Vibra Specialty Hospital of DeSoto with the goal of returning home to his family.
Before his hospitalization, Walter lived at home with his family. When he arrived at Vibra, Walter required assistance with bed mobility, transfers, toileting and dressing. Initially, he was only able to take a few steps with the aid of a platform walker.
Working hard with occupational therapy, Walter improved his hand control, function and ability. He progressed to performing short distance stand step transfers without assistance. Additionally, Walter was able to walk more than 400 feet with a rolling walker. His balance, gross motor coordination, safety and stability all improved, as well.
We're pleased to note that Walter reached his goal, discharging home with his family. We wish you all the best, Walter!Posted By
