Frank and Raymond
"There's no other love like the love for a brother. There's no other love like the love from a brother." -Terri Guillemets
After undergoing brain surgery, Frank requested a transfer to Vibra Hospital of Central Dakotas. His brother, Raymond, had admitted to Vibra a couple weeks prior. "I chose Vibra because my brother was there, and it was closer to home," noted Frank.
Raymond had come to Vibra for wound care, IV antibiotics and therapy after having a toe on his left foot amputated. He also required a wheelchair when he arrived.
Frank had similar needs when he arrived at Vibra. After his brain surgery, he required IV antibiotics. Like his brother, he also required wound care. Frank had a large wound on his tailbone and a post-surgical wound with staples on his head. As a result of the brain surgery, Frank's memory was poor when he arrived.
Both Frank and Raymond are diabetics, as well. Nutrition helped the brothers manage their diabetes, which in turn improved their ability to heal. Frank and Raymond would eat lunch together, allowing them to help each other through these changes.
Our wound care teams worked hard to heal Frank and Raymond's wounds. The brothers would visit several times a day, and together, they made great progress. With his wound healed, Raymond shed his wheelchair and was able to ambulate independently. Additionally, Frank's memory improved throughout his stay and normalized prior to discharge.
"[My brother] became my neighbor, and I was able to help with his recovery," Raymond recalled. "The staff here showed me that they care for their patients."
"I hope to go home to my babies and resume responsibility as a foster dad," Frank added.
We're pleased to share that this story of brotherly love has a happy ending. Both brothers discharged home after their stay at Vibra. Thank you, Frank and Raymond, for letting us play a small part in your incredible story!Posted By
