Jackie

A stroke left Jackie with weakness on her left side. Unable to move her left arm and leg, Jackie was determined to restore her independence. She chose Vibra Rehabilitation Hospital of Denver for her recovery.

When Jackie arrived at Vibra, she needed total assistance to complete her self care and for transfers. She was also unable to sit up without support. Jackie worked hard on her recovery outside of therapy sessions, despite receiving three hours of therapy each day. And every day she came to therapy with a smile on her face and a goal to make others laugh.

Through therapy and hard work, Jackie made huge gains. She continues improving her left arm movement. She is integrating it into functional tasks, including holding containers when opening it for grooming, folding laundry, and, of course, making her English tea. Jackie progressed from being unable to sit up by herself to walking short distances. She can now propel her wheelchair around using one arm and leg without any assistance.

Jackie truly demonstrates that with hard work and positivity great things can be achieved. As a result, she will continue to make progress in her rehabilitation journey.
