Mrs. Desai is an 84-year-old female who was brought to Baylor with complaints of cardiopulmonary distress. She was later transferred to Vibra Hospital of Richardson for further care and rehab.
One of her goals was to go back to ambulation. When Mrs. Desai arrived at Vibra Hospital of Richardson, she was dependent in all activities of daily living (ADLs) and functional mobility. Care plans were set up for nursing, respiratory and rehabilitation. Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy worked closely with Mrs. Desai and family to help her overcome her weakness, poor endurance and reach her goals.
Our PT, OT and Speech Therapy staff were very determined to better her condition, with a shared goal of increasing her independence in ADLs and safety with functional mobility. With enough positive reinforcement, Mrs.Desai progressively got better and is now able to transfer with minimal assistance. She and her husband made sure to complete her therapy every day where she became confident to stand up and walk again. Eventually, she excelled at transfers, bed mobility, fall recovery, and moderate assistance with her daily functions.
Mrs. Desai and family are thankful to all the staff at Vibra Hospital of Richardson for helping her to achieve her goals and return to a fulfilling life.Posted By
