On July 14th, 2017, Jacob was admitted to Rapid City Regional Medical Center for Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome, Right heart failure, MRSA pneumonia and pleural effusions among other things.
By the time he got to the ER his oxygen tank was on empty and his CPAP was broken. He was emergently intubated and placed on a ventilator. Jacob was in a fight for his life. He required very high vent settings and high levels of oxygen. When that wasn’t enough he was placed in the prone position and trialed on Nitric Oxide gas to help improve his oxygenation.
On August 4th, 2017, Jacob was admitted to Vibra Hospital via Life Flight.
On admission to Vibra:
- Ventilator Dependent
- Non ambulatory
- Tube feedings
- Unstageable pressure ulcer
On September 8th, 2017, Jacob was discharged to his home.
- Trach removed- breathing independently
- Ambulating 400 plus feet
- Regular diet
- Unstageable ulcer healed
