Doris was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease 4 years ago. One thing she noticed as her Parkinson’s progressed was that she was falling more and more. She was in the hospital four times in one year for her injuries. She had fractured ribs, injured her shoulder, and had broken bones in her nose and cheek. Not to mention all of the bruising and pain.
The thing they kept telling her was “Don’t fall.” Doris says “I wasn’t trying to fall. I was shaking so much in my leg and taking little steps that was causing me to fall.”
In February Doris was referred to the LSVT Program at Gateway. She and Danielle, her therapist, became good friends and Doris made outstanding progress. Doris says “Everything I learned comes in to play with everything I do now.” She has been able to maintain her progress and is even making dinner now. You can see how confident and steady she is standing for her photo.
Great job Doris! You are an inspiration to us all!Posted By
