“The personal touch made ALL the difference,” says Vanessa Halyard, Vibra’s most recent success story. Ms. Halyard was admitted to the LTAC (Long Term Acute Care) side of Vibra Hospital in need of extensive wound care and pain management after multiple surgeries. As she progressed, she was transferred to Vibra’s TCU (Transitional Care Unit) for rehab services.
“When I first got to Vibra, the staff was very sympathetic to my needs. One of my biggest challenges was the extreme nausea I was having. I had lost 30 pounds over a month.” Matt Ecklund, Vibra’s Pharmacy Director, evaluated Vanessa’s medicines as he suspected they were attributing to the nausea. He made some adjustments, personally explained the process and Vanessa’s improvement was dramatic! “It was the turning point in my healing,” exclaimed the satisfied patient who now calls Matt a friend.
Two weeks after her medicine adjustment, extensive rehab and treatment, Vanessa was discharged from Vibra’s TCU to return home with family. When asked what else she thought contributed to her healing here, she added that Tammy Flovin, Activities Director in the TCU, was “the hostess with the mostest!” “Tammy takes a vested interest in the Vibra residents. Her musical talent, her homemade potato soup, her build-your-own-pie event and personal attention help to make anyone feel better!”
Vanessa adds that the nursing staff and CNAs were also wonderful, going above and beyond what she expected. “Hard for anyone to believe, but I had a ball the last few weeks here! I came here as a patient, but I leave this place as family. I look forward to coming back to visit and showing off my continued progress!” Vanessa concluded with a twinkle in her eye, “I will have some things to follow up on with certain staff members-matchmaking, baby predictions and more! I am so grateful for the care and new relationships I got from everyone in Vibra!”Posted By
