Mrs. Crist was an active member of society living independently at home and holding a full time job. In September she was diagnosed with a severe case of diverticulitis. In October she underwent a Sigmoid Colon Resection and then was admitted to Vibra Hospital of Mahoning Valley. Her condition was complicated by a fistula in her abdomen. She had become severely debilitated.
Upon evaluation, she was unable to sit up on her own and was requiring maximum assistance just for bed mobility with no ability to walk. However, once she began physical and occupational therapy at Vibra Hospital things began to change. Over the next month her strength began to improve. Mrs. Crist had a great attitude and was determined to get stronger. With her assistance and the guidance of our rehab staff she was able to get back on her feet again. Toward the end of her stay she could be seen walking the halls on her own without an assistive device. Mrs. Crist stated, “The staff here has been awesome, they have really helped me get back on my feet.” Mrs. Crist is excited to return home and eventually will return to her job.Posted By
