John is a 79 tear old man who admitted to Vibra hospital with numerous problems. Prior to his admit to Vibra, he had fallen which resulted in a fractured left hip requiring surgical repair. The trauma of the fall also resulted in an infected pacemaker pocket which needed to be replaced in surgery. During his hospitalization his blood pressure dropped and he progressed into acute renal failure which required renal replacement therapy and he was put on dialysis.
John was transferred to Vibra Hospital for continued care and therapy. When he arrived, his pain was at a 10/10 and he was feeling very anxious. He was fearful of moving his body and lower extremities. It took several weeks for John to trust himself and the therapy staff to start sitting at the edge of the bed with maximum assistance. John was then able to stand with assistive equipment after three weeks with gradual progression of his therapies. He developed a very positive relationship with the therapy staff and was appreciative of them each day he had therapy with PT and OT. His goal was to get to Arizona for the winter and be able to fly on a plane. After obtaining therapy at Vibra, he was transferred to an Acute Rehab Unit where he received more intensive therapy for 3 hours a day.Posted By
