Mrs. Ethel McHugh lived with her family including her children and grandchildren. She led a very active lifestyle and was independent with all activities at home including taking care of the grandchildren as well as mowing part of their 20 acre property. However, in July of 2014 Mrs. McHugh developed a bad case of pneumonia. Her condition gradually got worst and she soon found herself in the hospital.
On August 22nd of 2014 she came to Vibra of Trumbull Memorial Hospital. Her goal was to go home so she could get back to tending to the grandchildren and cutting grass on her tractor. Within just a few days the rehab staff had Mrs. McHugh back on her feet. She would soon be seen walking the hallways on her own and taking herself to the restroom. With the help of respiratory therapy she was able to wean from her oxygen.
On September 5th Mrs. McHugh was sent back home with the support of her family. Ethel said, “I couldn’t have done it without the help of the entire staff. The nurses were all very nice, and the therapy staff helped to push me and get me back to where I wanted to be. I am very glad I came to Vibra.”Posted By
