Edward B.

Edward B.

Edward was initially admitted to Vibra Hospital of Boise in September after suffering acute respiratory failure due to a large saddle pulmonary emboli. He had recurrent deep vein thrombosis and had an IVC filter placed. In mid-October, Edward was outside enjoying the day with his family in the Vibra Hospital courtyard. When he came back in, he suddenly became unresponsive, pulseless, and apneic. A Code Blue was initiated and Edward was found to be in ventricular fibrillation. He received ACLS guided care; cardiopulmonary resuscitation, life-saving medications, was defibrillated three times, and was orally intubated. Once stable, he was transferred to St. Luke’s Medical Center Emergency Department for further care. Edward was further stabilized and received an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator. The Bergman family had expressed their appreciation and gratitude for the care Edward had received at Vibra Hospital and asked to return.

Ilene Bergman, Edward’s wife, stated that she could have kissed our nurse, Judy, who was the one who had observed Edward declining and rushed into action, alerting the team and essentially bringing Edward back to life. Edward and Ilene stated that every hospital should have care givers like Vibra; who love what they do. The Bergman family expressed that they felt so blessed that everyone they came into contact with at Vibra was so good at their jobs.

Both Edward and Ilene were so patient and kind to all our Vibra staff members, and he was a pleasure to care for. After 52 years of marriage, their love for one another shined bright for everyone to see.

Edward and Ilene stated they were thankful to be able to stay at Vibra for continued care and rehabilitation. Edward was discharged home with Home Health Care Services. Edward is looking forward to going on a trip and getting out his fishing pole.
