Carrie L.

Carrie Liston-Martin arrived to LTAC completely dependent and requiring mechanical ventilation. After a month of requiring maximal assistance for all mobility and care, Carrieʼs hard work and persistence was paying off. She was decannulated and required only minimal oxygen support. She was able to perform transfers and bed mobility with minimal assistance. Although this was a huge accomplishment, Carrie had bigger goals in mind. Her goal for discharge was to walk out of this hospital. She was discharged from LTAC to TCU, where she continued this amazing journey to recovery. We are proud to say that Carrie was able to walk two hundred feet with a walker and able to perform ADLs with only minimal assistance at time of discharge. This story is a testament that hard work, dedication, and a lot of therapy, will get you back to your prior level of function. Thank you Carrie for consistently pushing yourself on a daily basis and demonstrating we should never give up on our goals.
